Officially opened on 12 September 2000 by the Rt.Hon.Rhodri Morgan, First Secretary, the wind tunnel incorporates a full vehicle-size chamber and provides us with the capability to test vehicles in all worldwide climatic conditions. We are able to test the vehicle in temperatures ranging from
-20^OC to 55^OC, and alter humidity and wind speed to any required point.

This allows the complete evaluation of air conditioning and cooling systems for any region of the world. This is the only facility of its type in Wales and significantly expands the development capability at the Llanelli site. There are only four similar facilities in the UK and only eight in Europe.

This facility brings Calsonic Kansei in Wales up to the “Best in Class” standard within its product group, and allows us to offer development facilities that are state of the art to our customers.

In the highly competitive industry in which Calsonic Kansei operates, survival depends on staying ahead of the game.

Situated at the Calsonic Kansei site in Llanelli the Climatic Wind Tunnel enables the vehicle testing of both Cooling and Climate systems.
